I Hate Kenny G |
Allegra Lingo sets out to prove that the spaces in between mean more than the notes themselves. Her mother, her mentor, and a stripper’s can of tuna pave the path away from Kenny G. |
Allegra’s third full-length solo show, I Hate Kenny G, was created for the sole purpose of trying to find a way to combine her pursuits as a musician and writer. Letting the music dictate the stories, the show ventures into deeper territory than either Hubcap Frisbee or A Heap of Broken Images, exploring the author’s place within her family, struggles with faith in the face of tragedy and hardship, and, ultimately, the need to remember that notes are just black stuff on the page—what matters is what you do with it. The show is comprised of 40 minutes of writing, and 20 minutes of music. |
