A native Californian, Courtney McLean made her theatrical debut as the Ghost of Christmas Present in her 5th grade class' production of that one Christmas show. She forgot her lines, but if the shit-eating grin on her face was any indicator, she had found her calling. Courtney earned her BA in Theatre from UC San Diego. Once she discovered she hated auditioning, "Normal-C," a nerd memoir for the stage and Courtney's first one-woman show, was born. She relocated to New York City in 2002 and graced many-a-stage with companies such as Hi-Fidelity ("Pandora's Box") and The Civilians ("Paris Commune" reading). She also dabbled in the NYC comedy circuit, performing at Stand-Up NY, Gotham Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar, and Mo' Pitkins with acts like Rick Shapiro, Laurie Kilmartin and Orny Adams. In 2006, Courtney toured "Normal-C" to Washington, DC and Minneapolis and workshopped her latest show, "Super Glossy!", a sci-fi satire on women's magazines, at the Beckmann Theatre at ATA in New York. In 2007, "Super Glossy!" had a four-city run throughout the United States and is still dying to be performed in a theatre near you! Courtney is a recipient of the 2007 Puffin Grant and a sponsored artist of the Field. |
